To confer the specifications requested by each customer, each lot of chain undergoes specific finishing treatments, depending on the structural and aesthetic characteristics to be obtained. The electrolytic zinc galvanisation gives the chain a particular shine, but also a low residue and reduced resistance to salt spray (fog). The hot dip galvanisation on the other hand, consists of dipping the chains in a bath of molten zinc, and makes it possible to increase corrosion resistance thanks to the greater thickness of the protective layer.
To increase the wear resistance of steel, the chain is subjected to a carbonisation heat treatment which coats the surface with carbon. The hardening and tempering process is performed on the steel chains that require considerable tensile load strength levels. Epoxy-powder paint is also used to coat certain products.
